Charlie Shea - A History

Charlie Shea became a master homebuilder by learning his trade literally from the ground up. His experience in the construction industry dates back to his years in high school when he worked for a homebuilder. His home building experience continued after a four year tour in the Navy, at which time he decided to make home building his lifelong career. 

Charlie’s only break from the construction industry was in 1968 when he served with the elite United States Naval Underwater Demolition/SEAL Team and received invaluable experience in structural engineering. After leaving the Navy, Charlie’s construction career continued and expanded into residential painting and carpentry. In 1982, Charlie, along with a partner, formed a construction company specializing in framing, interior trim and cabinetry work.

With experience in almost every aspect of the home building process, Charlie decided to start his own custom home business, C.R. Shea & Company. Since 1986, C. R. Shea Homes, Inc. has built over 130 custom homes, ranging in price from $200,000.00 to  $3,000,000.00. His clientele includes some of Colorado Springs’ most successful business owners. In 1996, C.R. Shea Homes, Inc. became the first builder approved to construct luxury townhomes in the community of Mountain Shadows.

Charlie is an active member of the National and Colorado Springs Home Builders Association. He is also a member of a Builder 20 group which is an alliance of custom homebuilders who network to find innovative solutions to builder issues.
